Grateful at Zion Lutheran Church

Last Sunday we had a big event! We had our second on-site Covid-19 vaccination clinic thanks to the Schenectady County Public Health Services team, we had our second pop-up food pantry thanks to Schenectady Inner City Ministry. We were able to fulfill a special request for pots and pans and a shelf to keep them for two friends who were experiencing homelessness and are now in their own apartment. We had blessing bags to share thanks to United Way of the Greater Capital Region. To beat the heat we tried a new line up around the back side of the church to see how to maximize shade, we raffled off box fans thanks to Pam Silvano and we had a new cooling tent thanks to a little drip irrigation ingenuity.

We had sheets, bedspreads, bath mats, bath and hand towels, and washcloths thanks to a huge donation from the Homewood Suites by Hilton Schenectady. We had kids toys and clothes thanks to the Got Kids? Children’s Consignment Sale and consigners who select to donate after the sale, and many donors. We had a pickup truck full of strollers, seats, and pack and plays thanks to Todd and Joanne Langley.

We would like to thank Mohawk Taproom & Grill and MORE PERRECA’S for donating meals and bread, First Reformed Church of Schenectady for our account to purchase produce, Capital Roots for donating cheese, butter, and produce, The Schenectady Trading Company and Caroline Bardwell for donating kids toys, baby items, milk and produce. We would like to thank Head to Tail Pet Wellness Center for pet food, and Esperanto of Saratoga Springs for cases of Oboys.

We are looking forward to another great Sunday today. Thank you all for your support and to everyone who cooked, made sandwiches, baked, and shared posts to make it possible 💙🐼💙
