Community Table- Sunday

We had a great Sunday yesterday with several special things going on. We had a pop-up food pantry thanks to our community partner, Schenectady Inner City Ministry, we had baked chicken, mac and cheese and pulled pork from The Memphis King, our special project table was another round of towels and washcloths, our kid’s table was full of donations from the Got Kids? Children’s Consignment Sale, and we had cases of Oboys thanks to Esperanto of Saratoga Springs!

Each week we receive an amazing amount of donations and volunteers work a few hours every day of the week to sort, process, pack and get ready for Sundays. We share an incredible amount of items thanks to all of you. This recap hopes to capture and show you just how much is donated, prepared, and shared on a Sunday. Things were a little different yesterday and produce was shared within the pantry department. The rain blew in just for a minute and pop ups went up quickly to protect donations. We were so lucky it blew on and we were able to take them down.

Tom, Camila and their volunteer crew brought their refrigerated truck with items we do not always have to share, like meat and deli. They packed bags for hand out stuffed with produce, meats, yogurt, staples, and hygiene items. Their crew was so helpful and talked about their pantry so friends could learn of this amazing resource if they are not already visiting. Having them on our team is so amazing for our group and we are looking forward to having them back.

Our pantry team set up with additional items, our produce, and milk thanks to community partner and our amazing donation intake point The Schenectady Trading Company. Our home base held a food drive and stocked us up on so many pantry staples and hygiene items. Thank you, Zion Lutheran Church for hosting and thank you to all who donated.

Our Community Table has grown to include our library and they fulfill requests for books weekly. They also haven taken on houseware items and we will be continuing to collect and share them all summer as they are requested often.

We shared with 88 friends yesterday. We count and count again and our Hot Food Team regulates the number of dinners so we are sure everyone can get at least one meal. Yesterday we just made it and all 88 received one thanks to many cooks.

Thanks to Head to Tail Pet Wellness Center and donations our pet pantry was stocked up. We were able to share enough food to help our furry friends through the week and even had some litter to share.

We shared some lovely kid’s and baby clothing and toys and helped a lot of families. We met the cutest little girl with cute sneakers and a great outfit she let us know was from last Sunday. Thank you to all of the consigners who selected to donate items.

Thank you to all of our cooks, bakers, those that make sandwiches and volunteers. Thank you to our donors of items and to our GoFundMe. Thank you for following, commenting and sharing.
