Sunday was a really big day with a lot of special things! We had a visit from Renee, who created StreetSoldiers and Nancy B of the Albany team. We had tables of items for our kids, and we had an amazing donation from Lasagna_Love.
We were very lucky to have the opportunity to “shop” the Pass It On Kids Sale on May 2nd and gather beautiful gently used toddler and kid’s clothing, books, games, puzzles, shoes, and toys. Our volunteers sized clothing and made bundles with outfits for sharing. We are really grateful to the staff and volunteers for inviting us, and all of the consigners who select to donate items at the end of the sale.
We were able to share additional toddler items collected like pack and plays, ride on toys, and gently used strollers. We met our newest baby Sunday; he is brand new and so cute!
Lasagna Love is a national grassroots group that links volunteer cooks with individuals and families that could use a little help with a meal. We received 150 portions of home made lasagna, salads, and fresh bread Sunday from this amazing volunteer network. Volunteers stayed and joined us as SS volunteers to hand it out. They are an incredible group and we are grateful to have them as a community partner.
We would like to thank Schenectady Greenmarket, Capital Roots, Freihofer’s Baking Company Inc., Head to Tail Pet Wellness Center, and The Schenectady Trading Company for donations of produce, milk, and pet food. Your weekly support helps us keep our departments ready for Sundays.
If you would like to request a lasagna, or if you are interested in signing up to volunteer and prepare one, please visit their website: https://lasagnalove.org/.
We had great weather and time to catch up, mend broken carts, fix wheelchairs, learn of new apartments, help pack items, and pick out toys. Thank you to all of our supporters, donors, cooks, and volunteers for another wonderful Sunday!
